Ceramic

Diameter: 12.6"  / 32 cm

This striking ceramic plate is an adaptation of a 20th century embroidered wall hanging. Rich in color, this tile is very much in the fashion of popular sukkah decorations and bedspreads indigenous to 20th century Uzbekistan, Tashkent. This particular pattern is called fallak which roughly translated to the heavens and celestial bodies that encompass the skies.

This item comes with a certificate of authenticity of the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Enclosed is a small description of its historical background in English and Hebrew.
