A print of Gutman's work "Rokach Synagogue," this work artistically depicts two people walking into the stately Rokach Synagogue, as it towers over the smaller residences on the street. A beautiful work made by one of Israel's most skilled artists, this lithograph is a terrific way of displaying your personal taste in art.
Nahum Gutman was born in Romania and immigrated to Israel in 1905, where he began studying art at Bezalel in Jerusalem. He soon rebelled against the traditional teaching methods, and ploughed ahead alone to create his own distinctive style. His art depicted a hidden, exotic Middle East, and won him acclaim both in Israel and across the world. Gutman was also a celebrated children’s author and illustrator, even winning the Israel Prize for Children’s Literature. His work is displayed in the eponymous Gutman Museum in Tel Aviv.
