It contains twelve gemstones, one for each tribe. In the position of Zebulun there rests a genuine 1-point diamond.
The Hoshen Mishpat was the breastplate worn by the Jewish High Priest in the days of Jerusalem’s Holy Temple. There were 12 precious stones on the Hoshen, as mentioned in Book of Exodus (28:15-30), representing the twelve tribes of Israel: Ruby, Garnet, Citrine, Blue Topaz, Topaz, Sapphire, Peridot, Onyx, Emerald, Diamond, Amethyst, Aquamarine. Today, the elegant design of the Hoshen makes a beautiful decorative motif throughout Jewish art and jewelry.
