This 19th century Tu BiShvat (Arbor Day) plate is decorated with a colorful fruit basket surrounded by the Hebrew text of the blessing over fruit (Blessed are You Hashem our God, King of the Universe who creates the fruit of the tree).
On the outer edge, interspersed with more fruit and flowers, are the Hebrew words Hamisha asar behodesh Shvat rosh hashana la'ilanot ("The fifteenth of the month of Shvat is the New Year for trees").
This item comes with a certificate of authenticity of the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Enclosed is a small description of its historical background in English and Hebrew.
