Limited edition original serigraph. Signed and numbered by the artist
Size: 53cm x 60cm / 21" x 23.6"
This amazing serigraph is from Shemi's "Jerusalem" series, and is probably the most iconically Jerusalemite piece in the collection. It shows buildings similar to the iconic Great Synagogue and Heichal Shlomoh, bordered by shadowy trees and line-streaked pavements. The mixture of bright, glowing orange hues and muted blues allow the picture's details to truly shine, and highlight the city's complex nature and history.
Calman Shemi is an internationally renowned artist with an exceptionally broad portfolio. Born in 1939 in Argentina, Shemi studied sculpture and ceramics before moving to Israel and joining Kibbutz Carmia. He has pioneered two unique painting methods, and uses a variety of materials, textures and colors in his work. He has held more than 70 one man shows across the USA, Japan, Israel and Europe, and has permanent collections housed in Israel and in several American locations.
