This piece has appropriately been entitle "Papotages" - gossip, and shows two women holding chickens near the beach, with a young child crouching behind one of them. A yellow fish swims in the sea behind, and their dresses are delicately patterned. This wonderfully bright piece would make an enlivening addition to your home!
Samy Briss was born to a Jewish family in Romania in 1930, where he studied at the Academy of Fine Arts in Bucharest before traversing Europe and settling in Israel in 1960. He now lives and works in Paris, painting fabulous and unusual pieces which are surrealist and neo-primitive in style, and nostalgic and symbolic to look at. His work has been displayed across the world in Israel, the USA, and in major European countries including Belgium, Holland, Germany, France and Switzerland.
