This stunning painting portrays a serene vista of the Western Wall, created in subtle shades of white, brown and green. From a vantage point high above the Old City, Roitman has depicted the area's iconic brickwork made from the eponymous Jerusalem stone in magnificent detail. At the image's center sits the Western Wall with supplicants praying, surrounded by a dramatic, moody sky encircling trees and buildings. This breathtaking work of art is a wonderful way to bring the mystic and beauty of the Western Wall straight to your home.
Born in December 1944 in the USSR, Zina Roitman is a renowned Israeli artist best known for her aquarelle paintings and serigraphs (silk prints). Moldavian-born Roitman studied classical art at the Art Academy of Kishinev before immigrating to Israel, and was influenced by a broad range of contemporary artists ranging from Picasso, Matisse, Vasarely, Chagall and various Japanese artists. Her distinctive style includes a remarkable affinity for watercolors and the graphic-oriented work associated with printing, and has earned international acclaim. Roitman’s love of Israel and her delight in its unique landscapes are evident in her work, which has been displayed in galleries across Israel, and in Maryland, New York, Los Angeles and Tokyo.
