Artists' Choices is the first temporary exhibition – or, rather, group of exhibitions – to be presented in the Israel Museum's new Harry and Bella Wexner Gallery, at the heart of our renewed campus. Given the Museum's equal engagements both with contemporary art and with works of art and objects of material culture that go back as far as a million years, there could be no more appropriate way to celebrate the transforming reinstallation of all of our collection galleries than by asking Zvi Goldstein, Susan Hiler, and Yinka Shonibare MBE to conceive and curate exhibitions drawn exclusively from our own broad and rich holdings. And the selection separately and together of these three contemporary artists, each known for a focus on social, cultural, and anthropological themes in general and on the concept of the museum in particular, has yielded three thought-provoking and resonant display.
