This lovely glass jar is a recreation of an ancient vessel by skilled Israeli artisans of the 1st to 6th centuries C.E. , which today can be found at exhibition in The Israel Museum. Crafted with the aid of a blow-pipe from a glass furnace, no two items are exactly alike. Additionally, the natural chemical weathering process acts as an agent in producing the astonishing iridescent hue of the earthenware, making each jar distinctive in its own right. The jar has a green tinted finish along its perimeter.
This item comes with a certificate of authenticity of the Israel Museum, Jerusalem. Enclosed is a short description of its historical background in English and Hebrew.
